Well first Greenhouse system is not finished or even running yet and I am thinking of a second one.

With summer comming on I think it might get too hot in the greenhouse for plants so I am thinking of a "summer" system to go along with my Greenhouse system.

We have an exsisting pond that is apx 12'x 15' and about 18" deep, it is the wifes lilly pad pond that has several lilly pads and some water iris with the addition of about 1,000,000 mosquito fish swimming around.

There is no pump or any filtration in this pond and with the exception of new water added to make up for evaporation the water doesn't move.

After looking at a few threads on this forum about members who are using ponds as there fish tanks I thought that it would not take very much effort or $$$ to make a "system" from what I have now.

I am thinking of adding maybe 5-10 2' x 20" x 12" heavy duty plastic boxes for GB's. I could pump water into these and let it drain back into the pond via a waterfall. It would make the pond look better and add some filtration to a pond that has none now.

Am I crazy?

Today was the first 90 degree (F) day of the year, we have went from winter to summer, no spring.

The greenhouse is 110(F) and it's got another couple hours to get hotter.

So I am moving my exsisting growbeds out of of the greenhouse and proceeding with the plan to use the pond as my fishtank.

Got the base installed and leveled, got the 4 growbeds setting on top of the base, just have some plumbing to do.

This location will get great sun exposure.

This pond has had no filtration of any kind.

Has a bunch of Mosquito fish and frogs, Have no idea what the PH,amonia,Nitrites or Nitrates are, and not sure I am going to even worry about it.

Think the addition of the growbeds will improve water quality for the fish, don't really expect to add any catfish or anything else to the pond.

Looks like I may have a "summer system and a winter system in the greenhouse"

John

Pics later today I hope

Photos,.....,,

well went to get the camera and the memory card was "missing", son "borrowed" the card reader and now he don't know where the card went.

Did get two of the four beds working so there was progress, but I know if there isn't a pic then it didn't happen.

Recaptured my memory card, of course the pics that I HAD on there are gone. Round two with the pics

had to build the sun shade, the cukes where melting from all the direct sun. Figure they will be ok once they mature a little. Wife added 6-7 bush bean plants and a dozen Basil seeds. The seed where just thrown in about an inch down so they should be getting wet, will see if they sprout or not.

and the drains out the back that go back into the pond, still have one more drain to go and two more beds to get up and running.

Don't have a test kit so I have no idea of what PH or anything else is at. I know that the fish have survived in the pond for 6-9 months with no attention at all. With the GB's they should be getting some cleaner water and a bit of aireation.

Things are plugging along great, should have all 4 gb's online by this weekend. Veggies are looking better except for one cuke that the wife ripped the roots off while transplanting. Have not seen any of the basil pop up, maybe I didn't get it deep enough to get wet so it would sprout. Plants are really liking the shade, it has been over 100f the last couple days, suppose to be in the low 90's for the next few then back into triple digits.
