Well we havent as yet sorted out the sump, had to deal with grandsons first birthday, then needed a rest from all the work and socialising we do.

Murray spent the day overseeing the new installation.

this year we have taken the plastic door off the greenhouse and replaced it with a flywire mesh door. We used to leave the door open in summer for airflow (hence our insect problem). But it looks like we still have an airflow issue. Powdery mildew, or at least we think it is. treating it with a milk water solution. A sheet is spread across the grow bed to catch all drips so as not to contaminate the fish tank.

The good thing about science is that you don't have to believe in it for it to be right.

By looking at your pic I think i have powdery mildew on my snow peas then. It has the white coating on some of its leaves. Can you tell me what the milk/water solution concentration is?

Hey ther Murray and Fiona,
The other solution to your powdery mildew would be to use Ecorose or it may now be named Ecofungicide and it doesnt matter if it ends up in your fish water. It is certified organic and will encourage flowers and fruits on the pea plants, it can increase the pH of the water but probably not if used as a foliar feed as the concentration would be minimal.

Make sure you use "full cream" milk... not "skim" milk...

Your new toy looks like fun. Nice harvest, the novelty never wears off does it? :) What weight are they?

Nah the novelty never wears off. But this year we have purchased a different brand of feed, instead of getting the transport guys to bring it over from Perth. Must say not happy with the performance, the fish are definitely smaller. average weight was around 500gms.

got 4 ready to put in the new toy with red gum chips tonight.

Feed does make a huge difference to both fish and plants... Any pics of the finished product? I do love seeing the smoked trout.... :)
