Ignoring the T&B for a moment (and don't get me wrong, I'm all for it) has anyone investigated whether pool liners are food safe ??

I think most expensive pool liners are treated with algaecide....which is toxic to fish.

Possibly cheaper ones arent but then you may have issues with the over longevity of the liner/set up. :dontknow:

Well, if you have 500 fish at 500 grams each the you have 250 kgs of fish - not an insignificant amount.

As fish are neutrally buoyant, the fish will displace (approximately) their mass in water. So the total water shouldn't be any greater whether there is fish in the water or not (assuming you are filling the tank to a specific level).

Remember Archimedes principle - a floating object displaces its mass of water, a sinking object displaces its volume of water.

So does a 500 gram fish take up 500ml of space?

ps, sometimes it pays to go back to the previous page of a thread to see what all the weird comments are about.. :headbang:

There is an easy test. Fill a container with a spout to the brim with water and place it so it can drain into a lower container. Put accurate scales under the lower container. Place a 500g fish (preferably dead) into the large container, and see what mass of water overflows into the smaller container. Use Archimedes Principle to work out the answer.

PS and hope the fish sinks (otherwise it will only displace its mass, not its volume).
