You have to look at it awhile to figure out but that dragonfly has just gone from it's aquatic form and what's left of this (the molt) looks like a frog.

The Kelmscott Garden Club came for afternoon tea the other day. Two of the members already have an aquaponic system up and running and we had a lovely time feedint the fish and talking about gardening and the obvious benefits of growing aquaponically.

They were certainly impressed with the compact blue barrel kits and what a simple system it is. These kits fit in to a really small space, are cheap and you can grow a surprising amount in a small space.

Obviously I didn't have my best camera when I snapped this little beauty on a kang kong flower.

We went on a bit of a banner blitz before our CHOGM delegates visited last year, just to spruce the place up a bit. I can't believe that you didn't even notice Nigel :shock:

Thought I'd update with a few pics from around the shop showing how things are looking at the moment..

The little balcony units have been putting on some good growth for a many months, the teal system has 2-3 black bream in it while the purple one has a couple of catfish.

The DIY system had some flooding issues, Nat investigated and found a thick wad of roots about 3 feet long going down the drain pipe.. As we keep telling people, make sure you check your pipes regularly for roots. Apart from that it's doing reasonably well. There are 8-10 silver perch in here.

The backyard system keeps on pumping, one of our most impressive systems we have going, people are amazed by the size of the ferns and palms growing out the top of the beds, one of the most common reactions is for people to look up at the palms and then look at down under the bed. It just seems wrong that such large plants are growing in such a shallow bed.

CHIFT PIST system has some crazy egg plant growing in it. It's doing pretty well over all with plant growth and fish growth.. The silver perch are getting really big...

A bumper harvest used to mean lots of filleting, but Joel has come up with recipes for a bachelors barra. The thai style means there is no cleaning, all he had to do was wrap them in plastic. But alas, the boy is easily distracted. Joker seemes to be a tad confused.

Some were filletted, others were gutted and scaled and Joels input was to bag whole fish. We have it on good authority that a deep fried whole fish is the best that you can get. Well that is what Nat said before he tasted my thai fish cakes last week. Joel seems to be sold on the idea, that whole deep fried fish is a winner. Well I shall bring the deep frier and we will keep you posted.
