Eagleeye... here's a good guide to EC... for hydroponics...

http://www.getbluelab.com/Articles/Nomi ... Crops.html

But EC... in aquaponics... bears absolutely no resemblance... or makes any sense...

Put your EC meter away... it'll only drive you nuts trying to make sense of the readings you get in aquaponics...

Thats funny, there are a few AP people who recommend you should be checking your EC in AP..

Ahh, they must sell the EC meters as well...

Plus I guess keeping people totally confused will mean they keep coming back to you for more products and information.

And when you actually ask them... they usually have no idea what values you should have even in hydro for what crops...

And can't explain... or justify any relevance to the EC readings in aquaponics...

haha i totally agree with you that the ec has no relevence in aquaponics dont worry about that :D the system is permently producing and cycling thus you will never be able to get a true reading.

the point that i was going to make is that some plants are heavier feeders than others .

haha i have rewrote this about 20 times to try and say it without getting blasted from you guys but i cant because people start there aquaponics for different reasons.so here goes :

when i started my aquaponics, i based it on trying to maximise the nitrogen to its best potential without adding to much of anyother elements because I dont want that because i do have *wispers* hydroponics aswell running a permenant fruiting cycle. i do believe that you can get fantastic results with fruiting plants .but thats just not my system .
i am looking at one day trying a flood drain system with fruiting plants . but at the moment i dont have the room :(

Hahahaha... See thats the thing with AP, you have your fruiting nutes there whether you want them or not, unlike hydro, you can't pick and chose your your fruiting and growth cycles by changing nutes.. :)
