Thats what happens when you get misleading information and use it to guide you in stock levels.

Luckily I ended up here....at BYAP......where the truth, trust, experience, reliabilty, guidance and support is ubundant.

I am a product of the above mentioned....and proud of it.

Im not the first nor will I be the last to fall victim of misleading information surrounding aquaponics.

I have long found my home and all I have done (and want to do) since... is return the favour and help guide others starting out in the RIGHT direction.

Any follow up from the article mate, has any one else been to see you for advise and has anyone started a new system in town that you are aware off. You may be able to get a follow up article done if the word is spreading or some of your yabbie recipes in the cooking section may do it.

Ive had a lot of visitors bear thats for sure!

I never got a call back in regards to the gardening magazine so not sure what happened there, the journo did say she travelled a bit so hopefully not forgotten.

Im in the process of assisting 3 new system set ups and pushing for funding a local school system which if we get the go ahead I will send BYAP's way so they can kit them out with all the goods. It would be great for the community and kids to have fresh fish and vegies so far inland. Its just what Kalgoorlie needs. A lot of the kids here rarely even see a fish, its a great opertunity for them to learn things out of the ordinary. Its not going to be easy but Ill keep trying.

Members like OBO and Gnash have been doing this stuff around here well before I came along and it just doesnt seem to be catching on as well as I would like. There are a lot of factors that work against it in this area like shift work and long hours... people just dont have the time. Its possible the high wages around here also sways people to just go and buy whatever they need...regardless of quality. Its a long life culture in kalgoorlie to just get in work like mad, make money and move on. Not an easy task. And there is so much more I need to learn.

We need this school project. Get the kids and teachers involved which will flow onto the parents then we might have a chance.

Kalgoorlie has got some of the most expensive and poor quality produce in the country.

We need aquaponics.

Unfortunately mate it is the same in all mining communities, I'm a boillie by trade and worked shutdowns in the Qld coal towns.

The school project seems like an excellent one to spread the word and assist the community. Do you have a men's shed in the area, you may be able to get them to assist in making some simply barrel systems and a single ICBM which could be set up some where. Here I would suggest a retirement village/home but not sure if there are any in your area.

Darwin too gets the poor choice of fruit and vegetables and the wife wants to go back so I had better start to learn. At the moment building a BSF barrel harvester, good to be working in the shed again.

Wish you luck and success with it all. PS If you have the phone number for the magazine reporter give her a call you never know.

I think there is a mens shed here, might look into it. It would be a good chance for local suppliers to get involved with the school and the kids too.

I do have the journo's card and number but Im not too fussed on getting my mug in a magazine at the moment. Ive got a lot of expantion work going on at the moment so Id like that to be finished. I think they will be calling me if the school project goes ahead anyway... which would be better in a magazine. :thumbright:

I'm pretty sure Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile systems are a little more complex than that. Just ask North Korea.

Yes tc I noticed the mistake but for some reason on some post's I can not edit the post. But then again never under estimate the abilities of a group of retirees who have been told they can not do that. :D
