OK, so I am officially an addict :wink:

I am still a couple of months away from any real construction because I want to buy my 850g in ground storage tank and a tank for my water well before I begin construction. I will however be laying things out and digging holes while I am saving for the tanks. I wish I had more time to work on stuff around my house, but then I would not have enough money to work on stuff. :cry:

It’s a vicious cycle. Anyways, so this is the basic design. There will be one pump in the sump tank which will pump to the strawberry towers and the F. Tanks. I will tap off with small flow into the duckweed tank also which will drain back into sump. The water will leave the F.T. via venture drain to the IBC grow beds which will drain into a header through a loop siphons. The Strawberry Towers will drain to the header as well. The header will drain into the big flooded bed which will have Styrofoam and nell pots. The big flooded bed will drain back to the sump. The IBC’s I have are 350g so I will roughly have 600g (2,274L) of Fish Tank. The total cost of the system including the water tanks I am getting will be around 5,000. I can’t wait to get started, now if only I could finish that stinking chicken coop. Please feel free to offer advice :notworthy:

Interesting system and big project. Why so deep on the DWC and sump though - are you using these for water storage?

well, I read somewhere that the deeper the DWC the better, plus i want it to help w/ regulating the water temp.

I don't know about the DWC needing that much extra depth (most seem to run fine without it) but the extra water volume will definitely help keep the temperature steady.

There is no set depth on a DWC but it would be easier to move a shallower body of water. A really deep DWC might have oxygen issues or aenarobic zones.

This thought crossed my mind as well but running an air pump with air stones in the DWC is a fairly common thing to do so I didn't mention it. It is a valid concern though. Digging this deep would probably add a lot to the cost.

That is going to be a lot of air. I just put the pond master ap100 in my tank and it is going to be enough air to take care of all my tanks, and they total 4k gallons of water. How much water are you planning to aerate?
