Very nice. So it is summer time there correct? Or is it always "summer time" as far as it being warm? Neat set up. I have a few of the blue barrels around the house and was thinking that I might cut them in half like you did. How do you feel they preform vs a flat GB?

Thanks
Greebe

Thats right Greebe, coming towards the end of summer now, but Im still expecting a few 36C + days before it starts to cool down again. 'Warm' is probably a relative statement, winter here feels pretty chilly to me, but we rarely experience anything under 1C in Perth...
As for the blue barrels they are great from a financial and recycling point of view and they work fine. That said, if I could get flat GBs for an equivalent price i probably would...

I think its a Celosia? Cant remember for sure, was just something from the B shop. Non edible (at least probably not very tasty) But they do look nice, come in yellow also...

Dunno bout that Matty, what you can't see in the AP photos is the other 15 or so chilli pants growing around my back yard, from Anaheim to Chinese lantern and Jolokia....

System is looking great Gazza. So did you ever find any of the marron that escaped? Are you just going to run with the 8 SP over winter?

Nope they are long gone, maybe re-populating Bibra Lake or something... Looks like the SPs will have to do for now, I'd like to add a second IBC and run seasonal fish (trout/barra) but i don't think ill have it sorted before trout time :(

Fraid not Charlie, but not too phased as me oldies have several thousand cubic meters of dam space with plenty of yabbies...

as for the rest of the system, the SP are mostly around 300mm and due for eating about as soon as I can put in some barra.

Everything has slowed down in the GBs, partly cos my fantastic looking beetroots got smashed by rats a couple of days after pulling out all the old endives :upset:

Anyway I've given the beds a bit of a clean out and spruce up (man chives really use up a lot of root space!) And after tipping in an aquarium water change I hope to have some updated photos soon :happy6:
