VB and Steve, did you water the seeds until they sprouted? Were they under the water line? Were they dry? As you know I was able to get my seeds to sprout direct in gravel last year...

I think my problem is that my flood level is too far below the surface to keep the seeds moist, and if i plant further down its too far for the seeds to come up.

I have just recently had quite a few parsely seeds sprout, but they have been VERY slow once germinating.............not that i have a point of reference, i usually just throw parsley seeds around the back yard and an unmeasured amount of time passes and i have parsley

I grew stevia in the dirt garden a couple of years ago. It is a natural low-calorie sweetener. Although I did find it very sweet, I did not care for the aftertaste it left. I did not try baking with it or adding it to food. It just didn't pass the 'nibble in the garden' test.

My stevia germinated, grew, flowered and threw seed (all in an AP growbed)- now I am waiting to see if the seed will germinate again.

I think my problem with growing from seed is largely related to my bed being in full sun. As soon as they germinate and stick their head up - they are burnt even if shaded by the other plants in the system.

this afternoon I will give all the beds a separate water to make sure they are all wet. Only one bed is not currently covered by shadecloth (later on job)

Your system is taking shape nicely J - well done

The beans "sprout" (that was my nickname in the army) very quickly in an AP system - it was fun when I put some in my new system (kept moving the gravel each morning to see how they were fairing until they "sprouted" )

Looking good Jaymie are all those grow beds towers ect draining to a sump and are you running 2 pumps

yep, they all drain to a sump with a pump and float. two pumps

the towers drain directly into the blue drums beneath them. They are running on a trickle each cycle. The scraggly strawbs from the floating rafts seem to be coming good again.

I reckon beans are an AP winner crop. My packets said "plant 1" deep don't water for 2 days, then water once, don't water again until germinated" or something like that. Germination should be in 10 - 14 days.
All my dwarf beans were up within 3 - 4 days

Not only that, they would appear to be self pollenating, so no problems in the greenhouse. My plants are covered in tiny beans and are cropping lightly but well, and are growing terrific considering they are in the growbed over the silvers which is a system that has not long ago cycled.
