No, it's free, I've used a lot of it. It's holding the ground still (mostly) under the system and it's easy heavy-duty weed matting (especially in an area where the grass grows to 8 foot tall

We've got no carpets in our house either (now...)

I'll stop talking about it now (slinks off to OCA meeting to commiserate with other sufferers...)

Okay, so we are making progress on turnover/hour
Bertha starts @ T0 and runs for 40 minutes and pumps 8,000 litres
Bertha starts @ T125 (~ 2hours)

this means that water flow is 4,000l/hour

If water volume is 10,000l??? then the water turnover is 0.4 times/hour

Are you happy running at those figures - maybe I shouldn't have worked that out

I have done that, although I am now leaning toward making the grow beds out of wood and lining them with pond liner. I can make them the exact size I want to fit the available space that way.

If you use a half IBC you will need to make a fairly sturdy frame to hold them as they are not very strong once they are out of the frames (this was another reason to make timber grow beds and line them).

Nova - i you try cutting the frame down to size for at least 1 bed? I am thinking of doing something similat too, just suing the frame to support the one half by utting it in half too

AM, I cut it in half vertically so that I cut out the lid. The tank was also an old one that came in a sheet steel/tin "drum" so there was very little strength in that either. I have some pics in this post of my old system thread (which is here) that show the IBC being cut out of the carrier.

The IBC had a leak, so I had to cut it vertically, cutting one of the newer ones horizontally should work fine.

well, if the airport fire dept come through with another IBC for me I will use at least one for a growbed... It's already plumbed with a valve of its own too
