Thanks,

it took 38 @ 80lbs bags and 38 beer @ 355ml

The sealing, it depends how patient I want to be. For any type of Latex paint or swimming pool paint, the concret has to cure at least 60 days. It takes that long for the minerals and salts to move to the surface, they would make the paint peel of.

I probably will use a green concret sealer, water based, let it cure for a few days and than fill the tank and and flush it good.

Green... If I had that setup, I think I would do a tile mosaic on the outside. I am thinking of fish jumping out of the water between tomatoes.

hihi, green concrete, maybe if I put miracle grow into the water I will get a 1000 gallon tank.
For the first 2 weeks till all moisture is out, concrete is called green. They make a special sealer for green concrete
I plastered the inside with hydraulic cement, basicly rubbed it on, had a cotton glove on and than just rubbed the hydraulic cement all over the walls, it filled all the small holes.
Its the same stuff one uses for sealing cracks in concrete walls or swimming pools

Ahh, gotcha. Everyone seems to like green paint, so I had become slightly adverse to it. I had no idea that that was a type of sealer as opposed to a color of sealer.

Now I have a few questions.
How deep should the grow beds be how much gravel or medium should be in the beds.

I can get pee gravel for a rather good price at Wally World, only place in 80 miles who has that stuff

They have red lava rock, too

Hey Gnoib from the Front Range :wave1: . Just got back from Telluride down in your neck.

I'm with Ron... you'll want one year-round GB inside as a haven for your nitrifying bacteria, as the outdoor one will need to be totally drained (killed) for each winter. As my system matures, I'm planning on doing something similar by running a pumped line out to vertical grow towers each spring that I can simply unhook and store for each winter.

Hi BB,
Yes the year around will be inside and for the summer the proper plumbing and maybe an additional fish tank on the outside. But right now I will built just the inside setup and learn how to run the thing..
Always one step at a time.

A quick google search for bulk gravel in Delores Colorado brought up quite a few locations... If you can find red lava ( aka scoria) in bulk, it is the way to go.

yes I know, got a 1/4 mile long gravelroad. I like the company Stone, because they get the county stoned :D
Walli had 40lbs bags of Pee gravel on sale for $2,50 so I got 10 of those.
Next thing I have to find is containers for grow beds. I am a little picky concerning the looks of them, because the Wintergarten is my favoured room.

Congratulations gnoib,

You are creating something very beautiful. It will be very pleasant to be in there when the outside is best viewed from inside.

Looking forward to your GB build, I'm imagining you felling a giant redwood and sawing it into planks.
