Are you human?: more now than ever
Location: Southeast Louisiana
Hi Friends, I've expanded my system to more than 500 gallons and have decided to raise perch and bass in my tanks.
I want to know if there is any advantage adding a 20gal swirl filter that will discharge into a 20 gal bio-filter then empting into the fish tank?
And, is it advisable to install duck weed feeder?
Thanks for the help, Gil

Not sure what the Bass are like in your area but the aussie variety are very, very slow growing. Like 3-4 years to plate size.

In regards to the swirl and bio, I suppose an advantage would be you would be increasing your bio-filtration capacity. Its documented that the RFF is more efficient than a swirl if you do go ahead with the addition.

Short answer: NO! In fact the opposite.

I assume you mean that the solids stay in the SF because if you don't then that would be all sorts of crazy.

Even so SF are not that efficient at removing solids so that would clog your biofilter unless of course your biofilter is an appropriately sized gravel bed. Either way you need more solid filtration before you return the water to the FT.
