The American glass shrimp have this scientific name ............ Palaemonetes kadiakensis ..... anyone know what the scientific name is for the ones in Australia?

Can you buy Glass shrimp in WA?

I think Nocky has them but I don't know where from.

A mate from work has two dams on his property and has stocked one with marron and wants some fish. I put him onto troutman and he has ordered some trout for the new dam which is clear and deep but devoid of life in the form of a living eco system, he is also getting some SP from Troutman to go in the big established dam with his marron, this dam is old and has a heap of life in it in regards to minnows (probably gambusia), insects and organic matter.

I've talked him into adding glass shrimp to the established dam to give the SP and marron more live food as the aim is to create a balanced ecosystem from which food can be harvested.

The only place we could find is Aquablue Seafood who have 100 glass shrimp for $70 :shock:

or 1000 for $160 plus freight which is pretty good, but local would be better.

Nocky caught his Simo in a creek down his way.

I saw them for sale once in the Aquarium shop on Gt Eastern Hwy in Midland, $20/100, but they don't have the any more.

I've got heaps in my dams. Anyone in the region is welcome to some.
I wrapped a pump inlet in a loose shade cloth bag as a filter, went to clean it a week ago and it contained hundreds of glass shrimp. A few of the bigger ones were darker, still translucent, but brown/green beer bottle colour. 98% were like clear glass though.
Are the larger darker ones mature/breeders? Or is is sex specific?

today i tried to catch some in a creek, failed miserably...All i caught was mosquito fish XD. I left a bottle trap there so im hoping overnight some with go in. Hi guys i'm new btw :wave1:
