Looking good! Are you going to top your tank up to full? Fish grow faster with more swimming room ;)

Your fish are a little smaller than mine, 3mm pellets should work great.

It's been a few months now and everything going nicely but I need to fatten up my SP, I them to fatten up a bit ..... personally I think I'm not feeding them the 'right' type of feed but yeah I realize with the weather being like it is they won't get fat anyways .. soon as spring comes though, different story .... anyways I'm happy I didn't buy 15-20 trout, the system wasn't ready nor was I to tell you the truth ...... just a few goldfish - son loves them and 10 or so SP ... so yeah I need to get some proper high protein food for them.

Thanks for the update :headbang: . It's always tough to watch you Aussies grow stuff during our winter so it's nice to know there is a slow down for part of the year even if it doesn't seem all that bad from our perspective :) . Sounds like no major problems and the fish are doing pretty well so that's a good thing - get em putting on the pounds when you get the chance.

Cheers

Is it because I have failed to keep my tank more than one quarter full about the winter? .. oh and by the way they are growing but just really really really slowly, the only thing I can think of is there was a period of two to three months where they were not getting the right food at all.... I was feeding food that's more like something that is used with indoor tank fish... stupid I know.

what kind of fish are they? Fish do need room to grow... they will limit themselves to the size of the body of water they are in, but their organs continue to grow, so it leads to stunted fish and premature death in the aquarium trade when someone takes a fish that is supposed to grow fairly large and puts them in a small tank. So if the tank has been only 1/4 full that is a good starting place. Fish food is important too, but they should still grow even with garbage food (think of it as eating junk food / fast food... you will still grow (fat) but you might not be very healthy). The other question is about water temp -- even cold loving fish grow faster in warmer waters (to whatever their warm tolerance is). In colder waters their metabolism will slow and go in to a state of hibernation and actually consume their stored fat until the water warms up and they start eating more.

Silver Perch.

But in reading what you said it's probably the water temp, we'll see what sorta growth occurs after THIS summer.

Ohhh the backyard currently..
