Are you human?: When it is important
Location: Welland, Ontario, Canada
If you reside in ontario canada, and you property does not threaten any local ecosystem or waterway, you do not need a licence to raise fish as long as you meet the following criteria;

1. The fish that are being raised will not be sold for human consumption. Personal consumption is allowed.

2. The fish being raised will not be sold or given to others to start aquaculture or aquaponics start ups. Fish are to be purchased from a licenced aquaculture facility.

They are emailing me an "allowed spieces list" in pdf format. As soon as i receive it, i will update this post. I havent seen this information, if it has been posted, i sincerely apologize for being an idiot stick and wasting valuable blog space.

more than 40 species of fish are now eligible to be raised, including tilapia, four species of trout, arctic char, yellow perch and walleye.

there is a link on that page with Jonathon Woods' Urban Aquaculture Manual which has some useful info on fish species, breeding temps, lethal temps etc.
