Has anyone used the AST Endurance filter? I'm planning on using an inline mineralization tank like web4deb and in this automatic discharge configuration in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OH1fmEV4qE&t=30s it looks like it would be perfect for this.

My main questions would be:
1) How does this compare to an RFF/RFS for solids removal? (which was my original plan)
2) Is it super reliable/zero maintenance like they say?

Sorry to mention a specific company/product, I don't want to promote them or anything this feature just seems to be specific to this filter. Someone mentioned these in a reddit comment of one of web4deb's videos and it got me looking at it.

I think that's probably a "no" to your first question about whether anyone has used one.

It looks interesting but there really isn't enough information to make a call. I'm pretty certain that the commercial filter will cost way more though. Bead filters can filter both suspended and settleable solids - an RFF only does settleable solids but what settles depends on the flow through the filter. You could probably rig something similar up as a diy. The filter in the video is pressurized and that's really the trick that's being used to flush out the solids just bubble air in until it flushes.

Yeah it's about $1k USD (doubt that includes shipping though), even though it seems like it's been out since 2016 I can find very little info about it outside of the company's videos.

The School of Aquaponics on Youtube has a number of videos about their filters. This video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7d7j2dk69Q) has the bead filter discharge into a mineralization tank also.

I'm also planning to build a mineralization tank like Bigelow Brook Farm, not because I need one, just for fun. I've got a slightly different idea though. Also not going to use conical bottom tanks. I think more people need to do it before theres a solid consensus.

All the videos Ive watched it looks pretty darn effective, probably the cost makes it more exclusive to commercial.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it and be the test case, I'm doing a 2 IBC FT system so unfortunately my flow rate will be a bit over the 2000's rating so will have to get the 4000. I have found it on another site for much less than ordering direct including shipping so anyone else thinking of it make sure to shop around.
