caught a late movie the other night on TV

44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out
The most intense shoot-out in LAPD history
2 blokes with AK-47's and a seeminly endless supply of rounds

Synopsis: Based on a real event that took place in February 28th 1997 when two heavily armed men wearing body armor decided to rob the Bank of America in North Hollywood. Something goes wrong in the robbery attempt and the result is the most violent shootout in modern American police history. The two heavily armed men held the Los Angeles Police Dept., SWAT teams and other services at bay for 44 minutes in 1997

Incredible.

LAPD had to go to a local gunshop to arm themselves with automatics one of the cops says something like "you can actually walk in off the street and buy this shit???"

The mind boggles.

im happy to be living in a country where civilians can be better armed then the police. a civilian is most likely to be the one who is assulted by a crimanal. the fact that shootouts with the police are rare, and most of the time are commited by people that are not legally armed citizens, shows we dont have a problem with legally armed citizens we have a problem with crimanals. i am not against gun control, i think some people should not be allowed to have them, but legally armed citizens should be free to own the firearm of there choice. i feel once you prove you can not be trusted with freedom, you should not be living in a free country. punishment should only cost the taxpayer a one way ticket out of the usa, or some rope. we dont need any prisons.

Rather extreme views MC.. I'm not sure how you can say that everyone has the right to own a gun, that is freedom, yet also some people should not be allowed to have guns. How does that work?

And where do you send the people if you have no prisons.?

in the system we have now most everyone is born with the same freedoms, then depending on things you do in your life, some freedom or all freedom is lost.

no matter how many things are banned, some nut will allways flip out and kill people, i want to have the option to fight back.

There have been more than a few occassions throuhgout history where the use of armed force by one group of people over another has occurred..... almost always to either protect or gain some vested monetary influence.

Indeed our ENTIRE history is based upon those in power and influence using armed power to either impose their will on others, maintain there power and influence or to suppress rebellion/revolt by those they control.

In one way that in itself leads credence to the arguement that everyone should have the right to arm themselves....

But the reality is that when push comes to shove your right will be quickly removed.......

At the point of a gun..... or at the terminal velocity of the lead bullet that extinguishes your life.

To extend on the point I made above....

It raises the philosophical question.....

What's the difference between a patriot, a freedom fighter, an invading army and a terrorist?????

Doesn't it all come down to which side of the fence your sitting on.....

I bet both sides THINK they're right... and probably think they have GOD on their side even

And what about the freedom of the people in the country that your bombing, do they not deserve the right to live in freedom without the US trying to control them?

when you know what you are fighting for, why would it matter what someone thinks you are labeled as?
