Might want to cut back on feeding the fish until the ammonia drops.

Yep, giving them very little food.

Went out last night to check before bed and there was only 5 cm of water in the tub
The bottom plug had started to leak, so all the fish were rescued into a 60l drum, the plug was sealed, and then new water was mixed with the rescued old water and everything was put back in.

No fatalities due to this, all fish seem happy this morning.

Water temp is 22 deg c

Thats pretty warm given that it's not summer yet. I remember Gnash (also from Kalgoorlie) had all sorts of trouble keeping his temps down last year.

Ahh bell wire, what else have you used it for...
Best use of bell wire, stitched together 4wds at Mt Isa, looked like Frankenstein crossed 4wd

looking good mate. Bang a little iron chelate in ur tank, it will help with some of that leaf yellowing. Farm produce store will have it. Say a teaspoon a month, just keeps things in balance.

Does it have to be chelated iron? Can I use steel bars or something?

I was just reading and looking at your pictures Colin, glad to see everything survived so nicely. That was Joels watercress and it will make the fish happy by giving them some shelter to hide and shade to keep out some sun. I am sure you will be surprised how quickly it grows. It was lovely to meet you both yesterday.

Chelated iron is a soluble form readily absorbed by plants Colin...

Your slight yellowing (other than that one leaf) could also be a factor of your nitrates, being a relatively new system....

Have you tested? Have you got a test kit??......

If your nitrates are low (and everything else is normal) you could up the feed a bit, which will raise the nitrates.
