If a 15000 acres fire is just 2.5 miles away from your home, the fun stops.
Having a Army of firefighters is definitely a good form of stress relief.

I am not a person that shows any stress, or mentally feels it, I have now a stress meter, the scars of the shingles, when they flare up, itch and pulsate, than I know that I experience stress :D

Rinninger, the forest is closed. I saw some rather huge firefighting equipment crawling up the hill, but that stuff is in the forest.

Now I need some very good rain again. I have a cloud burst on order, but was told its on back order, just my luck. :D

Back to gardening.
I have a monster Tomato harvest coming, same for Peppers of all kind.

And...……..

D+D my Kune Kune pigs are here and a lot of fun.

Did some work on the smoker, but with a stage 2 no burn, it is on the low burner and we have been smoked quiet well for the last 2 weeks.

Hows it looking after the rain gnoib? I have a buddy who is an insurance adjuster who is leaving this afternoon to head to CO for the next month or so to start helping people work through their homeowners insurance claims.

He will be a busy dude. We have at the present 64 fires going in CO. Just in my area 50 miles circle, over 150.000 acres have burned down. Never seen that before in 30 years and this is just August.
It aint over till the snow comes, if it comes.
Plateau is done and over, but that does not mean doodley. Its just 20,000 acres and we have millions that are under the same threat, especially with those drought conditions.

Those were wilderness fire in my area, except for 416. But it faced the best of the best and very few structures were lost, 60k acres in populated areas. Amazing.

They are the unsung heroes, those fire fighters, of this country. The flag is flown, missing man formation, all the kneeling BS.

But when the hits the fan, its the boys and girls, that shoulder that chain saw and face of that 1200F fire front that threatens your home and family.

Save our homes and at times die for it.

I harvested my tomatoes and some potatoes and went over to the camp and gave it to them.

You should have seen their eyes lightening up.
It was a wonderfull moment.

You are so cool Gnoib. Thank you for helping those of us not being threatened by fire, remember those super heroes are out there where ever danger lurks and lunges, :notworthy: Thank you to all the firefighters!

Spent some time fixing up the smoke house today. Sealed everything inside, installed the stove and the pipe.

Than I tried to save some of the old wood at the door, glue and staples. I have to paint the door paneling

This is what I had in my junkyard, so it has to do. :D

How to control temp. The stove has an air intake, which can be adjusted and I installed the exhaust today with a baffle.
I installed a 4.5 inch baffle in a 6 inch pipe, if that is not enough, dirty socks and underwear, or a bigger baffle.

I like to get around 200 to 250 F.

The size has an advantage, I can go the butcher and get me a whole leg of a hog, or do a full size Salmon, or a full size ham, or just hang a whole piglet into it.
Being insulated, should make it easier.
