Dear all.

I have an under ground water tank of 7x7x7 cubic feet with an opening if 2.5x2 sq. feet.
Can i use it for fish farming? And by using a small pump use that water for vegetables and add fresh water for make up.

Thanks in advance :flower:

Welcome to the forum

You'd probably have to provide some aeration but the short answer is Yes. There are a lot of ways you could set this up so it might be good to post how you were thinking you would do it so people can comment.

Cheers

Thanks for the response.
I m planing as under:
* cleaning of the tank
*placing a perforated pipe near bottom of tank for suction of dirty water (that water will be pumped to my plant and vegetable beds)
*placing of a shower for adding fresh make up water to the tank
*i m planning to maintain the level of tank up to 80% of total capacity.
*placing of some lights on the ceiling of the tank.
*and adding about 50 fish of size 6"(locally available fish which gains weight of about 1.5 kg)

Kindly comment if there is some issue?

You'll need some form of filtration or you'll need to do regular water changes. Something like AP can provide the filtration or you can set it up as a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). If you don't want to recirculate the water then replace a certain amount each week. Just removing the solids is not enough since many of the pollutants are dissolved (water replacement, the AP or other bio-filtration will take care of these).

There are a fair number of variables but it can be done. You need to decide how you're going to do it and figure from there.

Cheers

Thanks for the response.

Now current situation is as follows :

About two weeks ago, 13 fish (7 are big about 8", and 6 snaller 5") have been added in the tank.

Fish are facing now the lack of oxygen issue, also there is a sewage and rotten egg smell from water.

Fir aeration i have placed a submersible pump with flow 300 liter/hr, as a fountain.

But surely its not enough. Please suggest.
Can i place few aquarium air pumps to resolve the issue.

I think you are about to discover the problem of how to access the tank. What if there is a dead fish down in the bottom corner you can't see? How do you get it out?

You really need to get some filtration set up and you should do this before adding fish. I'd try and get the fish out if you can.
