I wish to establish a hydroponics garden at the roof of my house. I want to know the approximate cost for this? The roof was around 1450 square feet.

AQUAponics or HYDROponics? You do realise this is an AQUAponics forum?

Having said that there will be members who are knowledgeable about hydroponics, but I think you may need to provide more information before cost estimates could be given.

Issues issues....
If you took 1450/2=725 square feet rooted = approx 27 x 27 sqft /3 feet = 9 GBs 3' x 27' with 30 to 40 trout in each of the 9 1Kl IBC FT's. Hope your roof is strong enough to take the 16000 plus Kg.

Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) is probably the best option for a rooftop because of weight. You'll probably need a biofilter and solids filter along with a fish tank if you're doing aquaponics using NFT. Regular hydroponics is considerably different than aquaponics so you'll need to figure out which you want to do if you haven't already.

Scotty would that be with wide flat channels / rectangular ducts to maximize square footage or miles of round tubes?... :naughty:
It's hot there so maybe an enclosed system to reduce evaporation.

I recommend you read a few of the posts that have appeared before from people in India.
There are quite a few of them...

A couple have asked about roof top system (aquaponics) and you could learn a lot from the replies they received and their experiences.

viewtopic.php?f=45&t=27684&hilit=india+roof (has similar request and links)

Couple to look at are:
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23871&hilit=parents+roof (in your area).
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=29088&hilit=india+roof
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=12357&hilit=rooftop+system

else simply search for India, Mumbai, Chennai, rooftop etc.
also look at some of the posts from Indonesia and Phillipines - there are quite a few around and they have similar situation.

** please don't keep making multiple new threads. It wont help you and people wont bother replying. Just stay with this one thread and keep it all in one place.

As others have noted if you specifically want hydroponics advice you will need to go to a different forum.

I'm not an expert or really a fan of NFT but it is the lightest option since it carries the least water and you could probably place the tank and filters off the roof. I'd probably go with the wide flat channels, I think they'll have less heat gain.
